Enthusiast? Seriously Chris?

Well…my sales funnels have produced millions of dollars in revenue for clients…so someone is enthusiastic.

I’ve worked with New York Times bestsellers, GRAMMY winners, and C-Suite level entrepreneurs as Director of Marketing and Conversion of Leverage Brands. They trusted me and my team with their names, brands, and reputations—and I make it my personal mission to help them succeed.

Before I dive into my skills, you can take a quick look at what my marketing team has done for a couple of our clients. Not only will you get some specifics of the growth they experienced because of the team I led, you’ll also see just how happy they were with us. (I promise I didn’t even slip them a $20 to say it either!)

Jerry Jenkins

Jerry Jenkins may have had 21 New York Times bestsellers under his belt, but he wanted to have the same kind of success as a writing coach as he had as an author. I was able to lead the team that made him a writing authority and a business worth millions.

Your Enneagram Coach

Beth McCord started Your Enneagram Coach and created a business that became a top Enneagram brand. Their leadership team, however, was drained, and their business stalled. That’s where we came in to boost their email deliverability and increase sales page conversion.

Here’s What I Do

Before becoming Director of Marketing at Leverage Brands, I worked my way up from a Copywriting Intern position I took with them in 2019. I was freelancing before then, creating a body of work since 2016. I’ve written for Elizabeth Smart at Wholehearted Consent, Nerdbot, MyBaseGuide, and more as a freelancer.

As a Director of Marketing, I’ve led dozens of product launches, ad campaigns, and email funnel designs. But more on that in a second, first…

what I’m extremely good at:

  • Sales page conversion

  • Email funnels (that nurture the audience AND sell, without annoying the hell out of them)

  • Managing a team of writers to execute marketing tasks at a high level

  • Writing headlines and landing pages

  • Making clients money while they sleep with automated onboarding funnels

  • Creating workflows that allow my writers and outside contractors to work efficiently with each other

  • Leading staff meetings and building team morale

  • Knowing where anything is in Middle Earth (you probably won’t need that but it’s good to be safe)

  • Writing engaging articles and blog posts that feel conversational and convert with a strong CTA

  • Gathering customer information and collecting that data into something useful for copywriters

  • Editing writers in a way that also teaches them to grow and improve

Sales Page Examples

It’s debatable, but I’d consider Sales Page Conversion to be my greatest copywriting strength. Some of my sales pages have increased conversion by upwards of 300% (for Your Enneagram Coach) and brought in hundreds of thousands in revenue.

Launch Campaign Examples

Product launches are the bread and butter of my revenue driving strategies for clients. One of the more successful launches was my first contribution to the copy of Jerry Jenkins’s cornerstone product, Your Novel Blueprint, that produced $229,943 in immediate revenue and added $42,749 in MRR.

Onboarding Funnel Examples

At Leverage Brands, one of the biggest changes I brought to our clients was improving their onboarding funnels. With my onboarding overhaul, the Jerry Jenkins writing brand went from a couple thousand in revenue a month to hitting $25,723 in revenue a month at its peak.

Website Copy Examples

Not all of my copy revolves around emails and hard sells. I’ve crafted plenty of attention grabbing headlines and engaging body copy to create websites that clients were proud of and grew their customer base. I’ve also led the teams that produced the copy, design, and site builds of clients’ online platforms.

Other Projects

I’m a creative person who constantly wants to explore what I’m passionate about and continue to grow the skills that have made me a good copywriter and leader. I firmly believe that the phrase “always be learning” is a very active task, not a passive phrase thrown around lightly.

That has allowed The Porte Port site to be featured in the top 100 websites for writers by The Write Life.

I’ve dabbled in other projects that have increased traffic and engagement on posts and podcast episodes and helped me grow even further outside of my normal work schedule with clients.

Archive of Articles

Below are older articles so that you can actually see where I’ve come from since I started my freelance career. Though I’ve grown since writing these articles, they represent something I’m very proud of.

Some of these articles, like “Finding Your Real Audience,” which I wrote on Medium, were selected by their editors to be given an audio treatment and promoted on the site.
